New Carbondale Rec Center Climbing Wall

For all you local folks, the new Carbondale Rec Center is opening this weekend, and to celebrate they are offering free access all weekend long. Besides featuring a large gymnasium and extensive fitness equipment, the best part is the new climbing wall. While there have always been some options for bouldering on plastic, we’ve never had a leadable wall in this part of the valley. (Aspen has the Red Brick, small but fun). The wall isn’t huge, 1,300 square feet, but should offer a good diversion on the rare days when you can’t climb outside, and provide some much needed variety from the plastic bouldering circuit in the winter. We’ll be checking it out on Saturday night, hope to see you there!
