I’ve been wanting to get these up for some time now, but didn’t have any good photos to use. Last week I finally got up there and got some images, so here you go! Last fall I put up the topo for the Outpost, and now here’s the Mental Block. This is a great cliff offering 18 sport and trad routes from 5.9 to 13b, with one open project that is at least 13+, so have at all you strong folks. To get there, follow the directions in the guidebook for the Skillet and then continue on the trail past the Chubby Pickle for about 20 more minutes. The views of the reservoir from up here are great, and with a couple different aspects, you can chase sun or shade. The Upper Mental Block is home to some of the best routes, and is certainly the coolest hang, as you first must climb an 80′ approach pitch to a giant ledge from where all the other routes start.
