Just got word about the fifth annual Reel Rock film tour launching in September 2010. Here’s the lowdown:
The largest climbing event in the world, REEL ROCK shows are spirited events where climbers and outdoor enthusiasts come together to celebrate adventure and sample the ultimate adventure in filmmaking.
In 2009, REEL ROCK screened in over 120 locations world wide, drew over 35,000 audience members, raised over $15,000 for non profits, partnered with more than 120 retailers, university outing clubs and climbing gyms, and won copious media coverage and critical praise.
Along with the tour is the 2010 Filmmaking Competition, which builds on the success and popularity of the ’08 and “09 competitions in which tens of thousands of people voted for their favorite entries online. This year, two winning filmmakers will be decided on by voters online and REEL ROCK judges. Last years winners can be seen here.
To enter the competition, all you have to do is send in your 2-minute climbing-related film by JULY 20, 2010, and you could win $500 in cash plus a fat gear package from The North Face, Windstopper, Petzl, Evolv, Climbing Magazine, and Sterling Ropes. Even better, if selected, your film will be featured on the 2010 REEL ROCK Film Tour and seen by over 40,000 fans on screens around the world. For rules and information visit the Reel Rock website.
Have at it!
