This just in, the fourth annual 5Point Film Festival will take place April 28 – May 1, 2011 in Carbondale, Colorado, featuring a five-star roster of adventure films, special guests and live performances that aim to inspire adventure in all of us. All events will take place at the Carbondale Recreation Center and other local hot spots.
Confirmed special guests at this point include Jeremy Collins, who will present a first-ever live performance art piece, and the Baffin Babes, a Scandinavian quartet presenting their film 80 days in the Arctic. More guests will be announced in the coming weeks leading up to the festival.
For those who haven’t been, this festival is a top notch production, featuring some of the most interesting and introspective films I’ve ever seen. The organizers really strive to bring films that have something to say, not just endless footage of people being “rad” in exotic locations, and they continue to raise the bar each year. I highly recommend putting this one on your calendar and coming out to Carbondale for the weekend, you wont regret it.
Also part of this event this year is the 5Point Dream Project, a scholarship award for local high school students to give them the chance to explore the outdoors and their own personal boundaries and dreams. There are two $2000 awards up for grabs, interested applicants should head on over to the website for more information.
Expect a complete program to be announced some time in early April, check out www.5pointfilm.org for more information.
Founded in 2007, the mission of the 5Point Film Festival is to inspire adventure of all kinds, to connect generations through shared experience and respect, and to engage passion with a conscience through film.
