Ice Climbs in the Elk Range
With enough snow early in the fall, or the right conditions in the spring, there's a few places in the Elk Range you can find some good ice. Think steep north facing walls with snowmelt and little sunshine. Use your imagination and get out there.
Mount Sopris is one place where you can find such a climb. While it doesn't compare to the classics in Rocky Mountain Park, it's certainly a worthy outing.
Pyramid Peak
While many associate this peak with loose rock in the summer, in the colder months you can find alpine ice on its north face.
Capitol Peak
Considered to be one of the most difficult 14ers in the state, the north face of Capitol offers a couple of different routes, depending on conditions.
